Michael Rieu - sculpturen

The works of Michael Rieu often talk about his voyages and experiences he undergoes. Through the years he developed his own style of art and symbolism. We can see a movement in his sculptures towards simpler lines and forms. The stoneheads are based on a theme he has used through his whole career, like a self portrait through the different stages of life. His head sculptures are a pleasure to the eye, radiating inner strength and stillness. Nature speaks to us through the ancient stones, through different colours and structures. Each stone has its own story to tell. Sometimes a part of the stone is kept in its original form. Through his studies and way of working, Michael Rieu keeps creating new and interesting forms.
